Balsa River Rafting

SUMMARY

White Water Rafting in Costa Rica is not only about paddling! Combining a challenging adventure and the magnificent Costa Rican nature, it is a must for any visitor who likes to enjoy life at its most. In general, this white-water rafting adventure takes place in a section of the Balsa River which includes over 20 challenging but safe class II and III rapids distributed along 10 km.

Once there, expert guides will give you a safety talk, the especial equipment necessary and a detailed explanation about some of the principle rafting techniques. Then, you’ll start sliding down the Balsa river for about 2 hours as you experience the excitement and adrenaline. The forest aside the river will be a great stage to spot monkeys, sloths, and a bunch of aquatic birds. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to swim in calm river pools isolated between the river canyon!

Finally, after an incredible fun day in the white waters, we will drive back to La Fortuna for a delicious traditional lunch prepared on a wood burning stove, just like our grandmothers used to do it! It will be followed by a short interactive Trapiche Tour, where you will explore aspects of the culture and experience traditions of Costa Rica, including sugar cane processing and the taste of natural juice and fruit.
